Africa Knowledge Project
Africa Knowledge Project, known as AKP, promotes Critical African Studies. It disseminates Africa-centered, evidence-based knowledge on Africa and African Diaspora.  
The Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE)
An economic research centre within the Department of Economics at Oxford University.

CSAE carries out economic research with a particular focus on Africa. Its aim is to improve economic and social conditions in the poorest societies. CSAE researchers often use unique data which give them unrivalled insight into the underlying issues. The resulting policy recommendations address questions in the economic and political spheres as well as in civil society in developing countries.

These recommendations based on quantitative analysis are the distinctive feature of the CSAE’s work and set it apart from many other research institutions. The CSAE’s work has played a major part in making Oxford University’s Department of Economics receive the highest ranking of all UK university Economics’ departments for its academic research during the latest independent evaluation.

Africa Development Indicators
The most detailed collection of data on Africa, containing over 1,600 indicators, covering 53 African countries and spanning the period 1961 to 2008. Data include social, economic, financial, natural resources, infrastructure, governance, partnership, and environmental indicators. Data are drawn from World Development Indicators, and other sources.

A Graphic Look at the State of the World
A few years ago a group of educators from BC, Canada set out to try to get an objective look at the state of the world. We wanted The Big Picture, not just this or that issue, but the most essential points of every important issue. The Executive Summary of the state of the planet. 

This web site is the result of that search. The site (and the accompanying wall chart) are here to show you - in as clear, objective, and accessible a format as possible - the condition of the world -- both its natural and human elements.

The Global Poverty Mapping Project seeks to enhance current understanding of the global distribution of poverty and the geographic and biophysical conditions of where the poor live. Additionally, the project aims to assist policy makers, development agencies, and the poor themselves in designing interventions to reduce poverty.
