EcoGuinea will collaborate with our fiscal sponsor in the U.S., Sustainable Travel International (STI) to promote ecotourism in Guinea.

Our ecotourism program consists of the following elements:

Welcoming visitors into a direct experience of the culture of Guinea:
  • Tourists can attend Ba Cissoko’s critically acclaimed International Festival of Kora and Strings [see below] and be hosted by Ba and other Guinean World Music stars and their families for an inside view of this inspiring event.
  • Tourists can live in family compounds and travel with EcoGuinea team members and their families. They will be embraced into the lively, close-knit family and community life. Our team members are very excited about welcoming guests into their homes and sharing the rich Guinea culture with the world.
  • Side-trips to natural, historical and cultural sites, picnics and camping out in gorgeous natural settings.
  • Classes in drumming, kora and other musical instruments, traditional music and dance and griot culture. Visitors can attend classes at Ba Cissoko's Wakili Cultural Center and other well-known music centers.
  • Travel around Guinea to ecovillages, sustainable, socially-responsible and anti-poverty projects for visitors concerned with issues of climate change, poverty, child health, sustainability and development.

About the Festival of Kora and Strings

Festival International Kora et Cordes de Conakry
This music festival is considered to be Conakry’s largest musical gathering of the year. Anywhere you go you will see all styles of music being played by all sorts of musicians. Platforms are built on the streets to support larger bands. Yet, you will experience natives set up all throughout the venues having a great time playing. Mostly, the music style has some roots in their native country, while a few French tunes are played here and there. The festival starts at the beginning of December and runs for several days.

Plans in the works as we establish our other projects:

Participating in Hands-on Sustainable Projects
  • Visitors will be invited to work on a sustainable project with dedicated Guineans as we build our ecohome and garden.
  • Visitors will be hosted by EcoGuinea team members and their families and live on site as they help local Guineans to uplift people out of poverty and make life better for their children, families and communities.
  • Tourists and students can help local communities implement and test green products that address basic needs that we have solicited from companies around the world through our Green Registry under our Training and Enterprise Center
  • Expert guests will be invited to present at Seminars on Sustainable Solutions for local leaders and government officials
Ecotourists will be invited to share their experiences in an online global classroom and put their footage on our youtube channel
